For companions of Symposium delegates, CIGRE NC Slovenia will provide companion trips to the most beautiful tourist places in Slovenia. Visit and experience the best nature and culture our country has to offer.
Companion trips will take place throughout the Symposium days and will be guided by local professional tourist guides.
Lake Bled & Ski jumping park Planica
Lake Bled lies in the northwest part of Slovenia in the midst of Julian alps. The lake has the only Slovenian island Blejski otok with a beautiful 15th century pilgrimage church. We will visit the Lake Bled and we’ll also take a look at the magnificent Bled Castle which stands on top of a high cliff, overlooking the valley. The tour will continue 40 km to the west to a Ski jumping park Planica. This Nordic Center holds the largest ski jump in the world (Letalnica bratov Gorišek) where over 30 world records had been set.

Postojna cave & Predjama castle
Postojna Cave is the only place where you can see the most precious brilliant karst in the form of a cave formation and also meet the baby dragons. Just like the world above the surface, Postojna Cave boasts towering mountains, murmuring rivers and vast subterranean halls. The tour will include visit of the cave and seeing of the famous Proteus human fish. We will also take a look at the Predjama castle, which is located just a few kilometres from Postojna Cave. This impregnable medieval marvel has been perched in the middle of a 123-metre-high cliff for more than 800 years. Behind the largest cave castle in the world, there is a network of secret tunnels, from where the knight Erazem of Predjama would set out on his plundering expeditions.

Slovenian coast, city of Piran & salt fields
Down the Slovenian southwestern coastline lies the small but beautiful city of Piran. The town has much medieval architecture and is especially known for narrow streets and compact houses. You’ll be able to enjoy the town’s main Tartini Squarem take a walk on the beach with crystal clear water or just enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the beach bars. The tour will also take us to the nearby salt fields where we will take a look at the salt production museum with rich history and how salt production is made in modern age.
